AMERICA'S BOATING COURSE (ABC)
If you are interested in an exciting, in-depth boating safety
course, check out America's Boating Course offered by the USCG Aux.
Many boat insurance companies will offer discounts on boating
insurance to boaters who successfully complete America's Boating Course. And,
this beginner boating class will give you the knowledge needed to obtain a boat

Auxiliary VESSEL SAFETY CHECKS
The Vessel Safety Check is a complimentary check
of your boat conducted by members of the Auxiliary, confirming that it meets
both federal and state requirements for safety.
No citations are issued and the results of the safety
check are not reported to any enforcement agency, but a decal is awarded
to display if the vessel has passed the examination. Click on picture

Current Threat Level

threat level is Elevated, or Yellow.
The U.S. threat level is High, or

If operating a power
driven-vessel, you must always give way to a sailing vessel unless the
sailing vessel is under power
A combined effort of the Coast Guard and its Reserve and
Auxiliary components, continues to grow, enlisting the active participation of
those who live, work or play around America's waterfront areas. Coast Guard
Reserve personnel concentrate on connecting with businesses and government
agencies, while Auxiliarists focus on building AWW awareness among the
recreational boating public.

Personal Flotation
Devices (PFD)
All recreational boats must carry one wearable
PFD (Type I, II, III or Type V PFD) for each person aboard. A Type V PFD
provides performance of either a Type I, II, or III PFD (as marked on
its label) and must be used according to the label requirements. Any
boat 16ft and longer (except canoes and kayaks) must also carry one
throwable PFD (Type IV PFD).
